Eat My Words

Today is "Administrative Professionals" Day, in fact - it is all week, but today gets singled out for some reason.

With 12 years under my belt around here, and only being remembered twice - I had my doubts that much attention would come my way. I even put up advertisements to send flowers. Do you think that was too brash?

I would have been a little glum if nothing had happened. I have to remind myself why I do what I do. And I do what I do because I love doing it. But isn't it nice to get acknowledged sometimes.

I was, and I am deeply honoured. I was given a potted plant, and a gift certificate for a fancy, expensive restaurant. I really would have been happy with just the plant, but I am extra blessed.

So to all you "Administrative Professionals" out there - I thumbs up, eye wink, kudos, applause, and give my love and respect to you for what you do. You may have been showered with flowers and recognition today, or you may have been looked over, but either way - there is a whole slew of us out there who know and understand. I drink to your health.

Happy day to you. Hope you had a good one! I didn't know that they gave professions days as well...wonder if mine has one! Must look it up but I still haven't figured out exactly what it is I do...

ANYWAY, today is EARTH DAY! A day we can all join in to celebrate together.

Is this the party to whom I am speaking? haha

Well I'll be - sure enough my calendar hanging in my cubicle does confirm the holiday yesterday of which you post. Nope. My boss did not acknowledge or honor me - other than to tell me that I was beautiful and awesome - but that's just what he does normally. I have worked for him for 16 1/2 years so he spoils me - it's like working for a Dad. So he doesn't need to take me to lunch or give me a present - he's nice to me every day.

Very cool that you are appreciated too. Many in this line of work are not - and in this financial climate they have to suck it up instead of seeking the kind of job that knows a good thing when they have it.

Hooray for you! I'm glad you got remembered this year. You are the glue that holds the place together, I'm sure. They just don't realize it most times. :)
