The Menu Is Too Large

I spent the weekend on the hunt for the perfect eye wear.

Did you know - there's no such thing as the 'perfect' eye wear???

Or at least that's what I've come to understand. I came very close to the 'perfect for me' frames, but they were attached to a $600+ price tag, and I couldn't justify such silliness.

I have since dialed down my fun-meter and am coming in to a close second. I took the hubby in to show him and to get his thoughts. That was my downfall. This is one of those times you should take a straight shooting girlfriend over a husband any day.

A straight shooting girlfriend will tell you if your choice is crap. A husband who would rather be any where else except looking at glasses with you, will tell you exactly what he thinks you want to hear. And what he thinks you want to hear is generally anything that will get him out of the store sooner.

I will be revisiting one particular store again before the weeks is out - AND without my husband (whom I truly love and cherish, but hate shopping with).

Will any of you be in my neighbourhood next weekend to grant me your sage advice?

I can see you in the glasses at the top of the page. It all depends on the event, eh?

Uh, could you just go and try on all the pairs you like and take a photo, then post them and we can vote?? Is that asking too much??? Do you think that would cause a scene at the eye doctor's office?

Poolie - those belong to Elton John, and he wears them way better than I ever would. Beside - I doubt my co-worker Pastors would take me seriously.

Lin - Why didn't I think of that!?! I'll keep that in mind when I head back to the store. But I'm sorry, I won't be getting a picture of the expensive pair I fell i love with.

Are contacts not an option? How about getting your eyes fixed with lazers and never having to bother with glasses again.

I agree with you that husbands should never be taken shopping.

wat, 6 bills for glasses?!

yeah might as well price out laser surgery if you'd even consider spending that much

PC - I tried the contact route about 8 years ago (in preparation for our wedding), but it didn't take me long to figure out that contacts weren't for me. The first 6 months of trying them I changed prescriptions and/or lenses 17 times. It was ridicules. So, no - I'm not trying that again.

PC & Rob - I'm not sure what you pay for laser surgery in your neck of the woods, but here it would probably cost me between $1,500 - $2,000. And truly - the thought of that kind of surgery on my eyes scares the heebeegeebee's in me. For now I'll stick to whining about getting glasses.

I found your blog by browsing and just thought I would add that I too have had to have new glasses and the choice is overwhelming. But the optician chose them for me and they look great - If you visit my blog in a week you will see the splendid choice he made. Have a good week and enjoyed your blog very much will maybe pop back again if I can find you.
