Christmas Survey

Plagiarized from Lindzee

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Wrapping paper mostly. I tend to buy paper in bulk, and it lasts for years. However, I save all the gift bags I’m given and re-issue them. I’m still working on bags we got wedding presents in from 5 years ago.

2. Real tree or artificial?

Although I’ve always been a huge nay sayer for artificial trees, last year we bought one. And I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but it came with lights. The cost of a real tree is getting way to high, it just didn’t seem reasonable anymore. That said, in a couple of years when our artificial trees looks shabby and cheap and we try to dispose of it …. we’ll have a different problem on our hands.

3. When do you put up the tree?

I try to hold the husband off as long as possible. I do have a minimum of not before December 1st.

4. When do you take the tree down?

Whenever we get around to it after December 27th, but generally the first weekend after January 1st.

5. Do you like eggnog?

Yes!

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

This is going to sound weird, but the gifts that were my favourite to receive were also the gifts that tended to be returned, and not replaced. I.e. – the Christmas I received a knitting machine. I was so excited, and barely got to try it, and it was returned. A game that I really wanted, but now can’t remember the name – opened, played feverishly, and vanished from site to be returned. Just keep in mind that I put the “Fun” in dysfunctional, when it came to my family.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?

Yes – two in fact, but this year only one of them went up.

8. Hardest person to buy for?

Father-In-Law!!!!! ( still don’t know what I’m going to do for him)

9. Easiest person to buy for?

Me.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

This question should be directly after question 6. But in my unhumble, ungrateful opinion …….. there was a Christmas when I was 8 or so, and being the youngest in the family it was always my duty to be the present deliverer on Christmas morning. This particular morning I saw a certain gift leaning up against the wall by our Christmas tree, and my gut told me what it was. I made sure to hand out all the over gifts first. I was procrastinating, I didn’t want to open the long tall gift wrapped thing. But eventually the time came, and I could barely contain my parents and their excitement. The parcel was downhill ski’s, and I wanted no part in them. My older brother, 12 & 14 years older, were avid skiers and my parents felt duty bound in my following in the footsteps. I think I officially used them on a ski hill once, and that was it. Ungrateful child!

11. Mail or email Christmas cards?

Snail Mail! Hard to send homemade cards by e-mail. They just won’t fit into the cd slot.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?

I have two – White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye (circa 1950’s), and the 1970’s version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

All year round really, but I begin in earnest when the malls are open later in the evenings.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Yes, mostly ones from my mom. She never realized that she’d given them to me the previous year.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Whatever I shouldn’t

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?

Doesn’t matter. We have no preference.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

No favourites.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?

When I was single it was always travel – to one of my brother’s places. But now that I’m married, its mostly stay home.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? I can! Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen! Rudolph doesn’t count because he’s fictitious.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

Angel.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?

MORNING!!!

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?

Bad, consumer driven commercials about what you’ve gotta have, or gotta get for someone else.

23. What I love most about Christmas?

Time off! And visiting with friends

24. Have you been naughty or nice this year?

A little of both.

25. If you’ve been good, what would you like Santa to bring you this year?

More time off.

You are so honest on #24!! I'm with you on the commercials, the more they are on the more the kids want. It's been really bad this year.

Great answers. I am going to have to do this one.
